A Guatemalan immigrant accused of raping a minor has disappeared after a judge with a history of leniency allowed him to post bail, according to a story published today in Breitbart.
Gabino Vargas-Perez is a 20 year-old legal resident whose family is from Guatemala. In 2016, he allegedly date-raped a 14 year-old girl after stalking her for months at Central High School in Omaha, Nebraska.
The victim’s aunt has told local reporters that the teen reported the stalking to school officials, but they refused to help. The administration claims to have no records of the reports.
Last fall, Vargas-Perez convinced the underage victim to come home with him to “meet his family,” then took her upstairs and violated her despite her protests. When charges were filed in December 2016, he was allowed to post a $5,000 bail. Vargas-Perez paid the bond and then vanished.
The judge in the case, Jeffrey Marcuzzo, has a history of letting minorities off the hook, once allowing illegal immigrant Eswin Mejia to post a $5000 bond after he killed a young woman in a reckless driving incident.
