Senior defense officials and White House staffers are refuting an NBC story that the United States will launch a preemptive strike on North Korea if our military anticipates a 6th DPRK nuclear test.
“The U.S. is prepared to launch a preemptive strike with conventional weapons against North Korea should officials become convinced that North Korea is about to follow through with a nuclear weapons test,” claimed the NBC report yesterday evening.
But the Pentagon, and level-headed members of the independent press quickly shot down the story.
The Daily Caller notes that while NBC is likely talking to intelligence officials, other reporters are citing defense and administration sources. The consensus is that the United States Navy will only strike North Korea if the country defiantly continues exploding nuclear weapons.
