There is stunning news out of Hollywood this week courtesy of the folks at GLAAD.
It seems that the movie studios are failing the movie going public by not giving LGBTQ actors enough screen time.
GLAAD, which used to stand for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, but had to disavow their name a few years back when someone noted that they were leaving out the transgendered population, rates the film studios each year.
This year, according to GLAAD, they all failed in the department of giving enough work to LGBTQ actors – lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer, in case you’re wondering.
What doesn’t seem to occur to these people is that the primary reason for the lack of certain categories of actors in the movies is that the movie going public doesn’t care about having more “diverse” actors.
GLAAD president, Sarah Kate Ellis told Variety, “It is not getting better. The bars are not being moved.”
