For the first time in 17 years, Fox News slipped to third place in primetime demos.
Racked by charges of sexual harassment and the termination of key employees, Fox has been in a tailspin for months.
Even more surprising was that long-time laggard MSNBC came in first, followed by CNN.
Fox managed to hold onto 2nd place in overall viewership, but the primetime audience is the one most coveted by advertisers.
For years, Bill O’Reilly led all cable news program. After almost 20 years on top, Fox fired O’Reilly last month, causing many long-time viewers to leave the network.
The troubles of Republican President Donald Trump have also led to a renewed interest in liberal politics, which may have contributed to the decline of viewership at Fox. But, there is little doubt that Fox’s attempt at political correctness is causing it to lose its core audience.
