This was the moment Donald Trump announced that he had just destroyed ISIS stronghold and airport base. In a move that is welcomed by many, the President began the bombing as a response to the Chemical weapons attacks several days earlier in which 70 people died (including 20 children).
The Chemical attacks are thought to have been Sarin Gas dropped from Syrian planes. The US administration targeted specifically Syrian sites to avoid any damage or injury to Russian troops that are in the area.
The Russians are claiming that the attacks were actually launched by Rebel fighters, not the Assad regime (which the Kremlin has been supportive of).
There is division amongst politicians as to whether this was the right move for President Trump, but one thing all are agreeing upon is that chemical weapon attacks cannot be tolerated.
