Faced with an interview with liberal-leaning “Face The Nation” host John Dickerson, Republican Trey Gowdy told CBS viewers this Sunday that Democrats are exposing their own hypocrisy by not expressing more outrage over the “unmasking” of private citizens, referring to the over-zealous “deep state” investigation of the Trump campaign.
“The incidental collection of U.S. persons happens,” Gowdy began. “What I wish some of my friends on the other side would be a little more outraged about is the political use of that unmasking.”
Gowdy continues by pointing out that it’s one thing to collect data on citizens, but “we don’t read
about those U.S. citizens on the front page of the New York Times and the Washington Post…(the leaking of names) is a crime, and it would be nice if we showed the same level of interest in that.”
