Republican Trey Gowdy blistered FBI Director James Comey with a harsh and pointed line of questioning at a congressional hearing on Monday.
Gowdy appeared to name former President Barack Obama and 6 of the 2-term POTUS’ top staffers as potential sources of leaks, concerning former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn’s alleged contacts with the Russian government during the 2016 election.
In the video below, the South Carolina politician asks Comey if former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper “knew the name of the U.S. citizen (who) appeared in The New York Times and Washington Post” to attack Flynn with the Russia leak. “Would (Clapper) have access to an unmasked name?”
Gowdy also warned the director of consequences if Obama’s cronies are shown to have been lying about leaks, reminding Comey that such an offense carries a sentence of “10 years in jail.”
