It was by all accounts Donald Trump’s finest hour since assuming the Presidency five months ago.
The President appeared before TV cameras shortly after the shooting and provided information to the public in a calm and reassuring tone.
The Huffington Post reported the President’s unifying words.

— President Donald Trump
In the evening, instead of attending his birthday party, the President and First Lady made an unannounced visit the hospital where Congressman Steve Scalise was being treated for his critical injuries, where he sat by the Congressman’s side for twenty minutes.
