Perverts, creeps, and creepy men trying to use the women’s bathroom have unfortunately come up with a new way to harass women and collect disgusting videos thanks to new technology.
New high-tech cameras are now being placed inside the simple hooks that hang on bathroom stalls, that are meant for people to put their bags and coats on. The miniature device allows creepos to videotape people in their most vulnerable moments.
One Florida sheriff had seen this problem way too many times, and asked business owners to be proactive in checking their rest rooms and dressing rooms. “Anyone who has a public restroom on their property needs to check them closely. If you find anything suspicious you think might contain a hidden camera, don’t touch it. Call us right away and we will respond.”

Authorities are warning of a high-tech device that looks like a simple coat/purse hook that’s being placed in bathrooms and changing rooms across the country by creeps. While it looks like a regular coat hook, upon closer inspection, there’s something far more sinister going on. These “spy” hooks look innocent enough, but inside of them there’s a small miniature camera that is able to film through a tiny hole at the top of the plastic.
Whoever has the hook installed in a bathroom stall or dressing room can then retrieve the footage through a USB, and then download anything that was recorded straight to their computer. One sheriff from the Florida Keys where the issue has become rampant is asking all business owners to check their property for these devices immediately.
He went on to say that these cameras can pretty much be hidden anywhere in places where people would least expect them..
“Keep in mind, though, that these are very small cameras that can be mounted in many locations and hidden in many seemingly every-day items.”
These cheap camera hooks can be bought online, and so in theory, they could be installed in any public place, which means you might want to double check the next time you strip down in public changing room or drop your pants in a stall. Here’s the official statement that’s being circulated as a warning to citizens by the Florida Keys police department:
Detectives investigating hidden cameras in women’s restrooms. Detectives in the Upper Keys are investigating three reports involving hidden cameras found in women’s restrooms.
In all three incidents, miniature cameras hidden in coat hooks were found mounted on the walls in the women’s restrooms. They were found at Anne’s Beach on May 26th, the Circle K Store at the 99.8 mile marker of Highway U.S. One on May 28th and in the women’s bathroom at Harry Harris Park in Tavernier today.
The coat hooks mounted in all three locations are identical to devices available for purchase on line, sold by various companies as “home security devices”. Detectives have notified Monroe County Public Works and Islamorada Public Works and asked them to check all the bathrooms at county and city facilities; Sheriff Rick Ramsay wants to let everyone know so they also can be on the lookout.
All of the devices found so far look like simple white coat hooks with the camera mounted behind it and utilizing a very small hole in the top portion of the coat hook for the lens of the camera. They use motion detection cameras inside to take video.
