President Donald Trump is after everyone’s favorite “Cherokee” once again.
Speaking today to a triumphant National Rifle Association, Trump revived the nickname “Pocahontas” for Democratic political rival Elizabeth Warren, a senator from Massachusetts.
“You’re gonna have lots of Democrats coming over (to speak to the NRA in 2020),” Trump told the audience. “But you’ll say, no sir…or ma’am.” Sensing the giggle in the crowd, the POTUS continued, “It could be Pocahontas.”
Democrats, as usual, have decried the moniker as racist on Twitter. But Trump’s nickname for Warren refers to the senator’s past in which she tried to use a scant amount of Native American blood as a privilege, a tactic highly offensive to the actual Tribal community.
