An unnamed Turkish teenager says she was saved from a would-be rapist by her pet cat, who attacked the man that had broken into her house in an attempt to rape her.
“I was faced with a villain, a pervert. He could have killed me but my cat saved my life by attacking him,” the victim said, Express reported. “Minno is my hero. People say cats are ungrateful. But, in fact, it is people who are ungrateful. Animals are loyal. Minno? sees me as her mother. She is worth the world to me and she will always be with us.”
The almost-rapist was given severe charges in court, and the head prosecution told media that they were not considering the cat in the charges.
Just goes to show how valuable and loyal a pet can be!

The 20-year-old suspect appeared in court in Diyarbakir, Turkey, for charges relating to the thwarted attack. The victim’s lawyer, Deniz Emine Kayar, criticized the authorities who prosecuted the man for not giving him more severe charges.
“The action was prevented because of the cat’s attack, but it was evaluated by court as if the suspect voluntarily changed his mind,” Kayar said. “The cat was not taken into consideration before reaching a verdict.”
Many readers applauded the animal for protecting its owner in such a serious situation.
“Animals ARE amazing when it comes to the people they love. This ‘interruption’ defense is like a bank robber being ‘interrupted’ and was not able to actually rob the bank…or maybe he would have changed his mind. When someone breaks into your home the outcome is not good. Defense lawyer is as bad as his client,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.
“Gotta love the cat. They are very loyal. Mine are protoceratops and growl when strangers come to the door. It’s time to make sure this type of behavior is stopped. Time to go back to where they can from,” another wrote.
