A professor at the Ryerson University in Canada has told students to NOT use government or business statistics when describing the “myth” of the gender pay gap. When student Jane Mathias asked sociology professor Kelly Train if she could write an essay on “Rejecting the Gender Pay Gap” she was told “First off, your premise is wrong,” responded Professor Train. “The wage gap is very real.”

Train effectively bans any resources which would not support her standpoint. She also tells Mathais in an email that, “you need to look at feminist sources on this issue.”
While one might assume that academic research would look at every available source of information, this evidently isn’t the case at Ryerson University.
