As promised during his campaigns, Trump made the immigration policy a focal point of his administration. According to current statistics, Trump is already fulfilling the promise which isn’t surprising. The illegal immigration along the south west border decreased drastically in January alone.
Statistics released on Monday by the Border protection and Customs Agency reveals that border crossing is the lowest it has been since 2012. There is only an average of 31,575 illegal immigrants on a monthly basis, which is a drop of 27 percent. The admissible migrant population dropped by a whopping 28 percent to only 10,899
The Freedom Daily reports:
The CBP said,
“Overall total migration remained at elevated levels, primarily due to family units and unaccompanied children from Central America, Haitian nationals migrating from Brazil, and Cuban nationals.” CBP continues to maintain a strong security posture through background checks of all individuals encountered and ensures that each person is processed in accordance with U.S. immigration laws and DHS policy.”
Cuban immigrants fell from 5,000 to 1,572 from December to January. Although the drop might be easily attributed to the lifting of Cuban embargo by Obama, it’s actually the crackdown on illegal immigration that has seen the number of illegal immigrants drop significantly.
