Often, President Trump seems to foul up and then continue down the same path, unaware of how his words and actions are perceived in mainstream America.
But more often than not, it’s a persuasion game. Trump says or tweets outlandish thing X and the public and media focus attention on it, usually because it is the issue the President wants their attention to be on.
The Donald probably did make a mistake by tweeting the weird word “Covfefe” last night. It is likely his phone attempted to auto-correct a different word, possibly “coverage,” causing Trump to put his phone in his pocket and “pocket-send” the unfinished tweet.
But then something interesting happened. President Donald Trump, master of persuasion, and an army of his White House staffers and campaign associates around the United States did nothing. The tweet sat on the internet for nearly 10 hours while users from all political persuasions had a good laugh.
Then, the President egged on the fun with a Twitter contest to guess the original word, causing another overflow of mirth. And that’s exactly what Trump wants. It’s exactly what the country needs.
It has lightened the mood, so much so that Kathy Griffin is already becoming a laughingstock as opposed to a serious symbol of hate speech.
And instead of listening to Don Lemon belch the word “Russia” 200 times in 5 sentences, Americans are having fun and feeling like ourselves again…if only for a moment.
We’re guessing that Trumpy considers this one a happy accident.
