An article penned by war expert David Axe for The Daily Beast claims that the United States military has developed a mega-bomb capable of destroying Kim Jong-un‘s underground defense network with non-nuclear explosions.
Called MOP, or Massive Ordinance Penetrator (that’s enough, wiseguys!), the weapon would be delivered by stealth bombers that take off from Missouri and fly over the Pacific to North Korea.
“The MOP makes the “Mother of all Bombs” look like a (firecracker),” writes Axe.
The North Korean regime has been burying its most important military sites for over 50 years. Starting in the 1960s, Pyongyang has built as many as 8,000 underground facilities.
The American plan to knock out the bunkers would involve more firepower in a single conventional weapon that has ever been used before.
The Bush Administration considered small, tactical nuclear weapons as a means of destroying DPRK’s buried facilities, but the plan was rejected due to potential radioactive fallout. So in 2004, the Pentagon began development of the MOP, a 15-ton mega-bomb designed to destroy underground structures.
