Sanctuary cities are in for a rough ride. Although the President can’t order cities to enforce federal immigration laws, he can stop federal funding to those that don’t comply.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions ordered the Justice Department to require that U.S. jurisdictions comply with immigration enforcement as a condition for receiving federal grant money.
This action is a way to implement Executive Order 13768, signed by President Donald Trump in January, which pushed the executive branch to ensure jurisdiction didn’t hinder the enforcement of federal immigration laws.
The law is clear in this case. If you instruct local police to not ask about immigration status, or not to inform ICE the status of people you have in custody, you’re breaking the law.
It’s simple. No compliance, no federal money!

There’s one thing every liberal should know by now – if Donald Trump says he’s going to do something, he does it. Resist all you want, drag your feet, and obstruct, obstruct, obstruct. It’s getting done.
(In related news, Trump just delivered on a longstanding campaign promise.)
