Tiger Woods’ made headlines once again as the man has spiraled from a golf legend to a media sensation over the last few years. After falling asleep, drunk, at the wheel, police had to arrest Woods and bring him to the precinct.
Woods, after being released the next morning, apologized to family, friends, and fans, once again, for his behavior.
Even the golfer’s ex-mistress, former lingerie model Cori Rist, spoke out in defense of the star.
“I saw the news, I only feel compassion for the guy,” Rist told the New York Post. “I think he’s a good person, and it’s kind of sad. I think he’s a good person, and clearly he’s a good father, and he’s going through a difficult time, and I think people should offer support instead of applauding his downfall. I just wish him the best, and I hope to see a good outcome from all of this, and I think he’ll be OK.”
Police arrested Woods on suspicion of driving under the influence after he was found asleep behind the wheel of his Mercedes in Jupiter, Florida.
“It should be noted [that] Woods was asleep at the wheel and had to be woken up,” the arresting officer wrote in the police report. “The vehicle was running and the brake lights were illuminated as well as the right blinker flashing.”
It was later revealed that despite Woods failing a field sobriety test, a breathalyzer test did not detect the presence of alcohol in his system.
Woods subsequently issued a statement about his arrest, in which he said alcohol was involved and that he had an “unexpected reaction” to medication that he had taken, according to the Independent Journal Review.
