Republican Senator Ted Cruz wants to make Mexico pay for the wall after all – or some Mexicans at least.
Earlier today Cruz proposed the “El Chapo Act,” which would use seized assets from drug lords such as Mexican Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman to pay for the wall on the southwestern border.
Federal prosecutors are trying to take at least $14 billion in assets from El Chapo, which would pay for about 2/3 of the proposed border wall’s funding.
Cruz was quoted, “Fourteen billion dollars will go a long way toward building a wall that will keep Americans safe and hinder the illegal flow of drugs, weapons, and individuals across our southern border.”
During the 2015-16 Republican primary, Cruz and Trump feuded often.
Cruz accused Trump of not being a true conservative, and Trump fought back with the devilish nickname “Lyin’ Ted.”
