A shoving match between politicians turned into a near-melee on the Texas House floor Monday, on the final day of a bitterly contentious 140-day legislative session.
“This session has been very, very difficult,” said Representative Celia Israel. “There are enough of us here who remember a time in Texas when respect and decorum ruled the day.”
A group of undocumented immigrant protesters crashed the chamber’s gallery on Monday, chanting their opposition to the so-called sanctuary cities ban.
Legislators recently approved a new law that would force local governments to enforce federal immigration laws.
The illegal aliens can be seen flooding the Texas State Capitol building.
