Police are investigating the mysterious death of a Johns Hopkins student-athlete who was found dead near the Baltimore Campus Thursday, the Daily Mail reports.
Police say the body of 19-year-old Abigail Bastien was found by officers just north of the college’s Homewood campus.
Police have not determined the cause of her death but told the site there were no obvious signs of foul play.
Bastien was working in the cell biology department of the university’s School of Medicine this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
She was also a star sprinter on the track and field team and a member of the Alpha Phi sorority.
“Her coaches say that Abby always had a smile on her face, loved being a student-athlete at Johns Hopkins, and deeply cared for the members of her team,” the university wrote in a statement. “Together, we mourn the loss of such a promising member of our community.”
