Robert Mueller, special counsel to the Red Scare, we mean, the Russia investigation, has appointed lawyer Jeannie Rhee to his staff.
Why is that significant? Rhee is a Clintonian lawyer who worked to defend the former Secretary of State from FISA Court requests in 2015.
The news comes the day before Attorney General Jeff Sessions is set to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee on the Russian collusion allegations.
The developments have raised red flags among Republicans. Former House of Representatives Speaker Newt Gingrich told Fox News over the weekend, “This is going to be a witch hunt.”
Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning has suggested Mueller’s role be eliminated or diminished.
“Given James Comey’s testimony that there is no collusion between President Trump and Russia…the scope of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation should be dramatically narrowed,” Manning writes.
