The suspect behind the Parliament terror attack was taken to an ambulance after being shot by the police in response to him accessing the Houses of Parliament and stabbing a police man after running through the security check at the gates. Pictures of him have gone up of being stripped immediately by police after his death in search of possible explosives. The first photo of the attacker have been released and he appears to be bearded and Asian.
The attacker was shot three times and died later at the hospital. His attack resulted in four dead, which are a police officer, a woman and the attacker, and 20 injured, including three police officers. Two victims are still in critical condition at King’s College Hospital and another 6 are being treated at a trauma center.
Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley earlier said police had declared the attack as a terrorist incident. He said the belief was there was only one attacker but police were still searching the area as thoroughly as possible. “This is a day we planned for but we hoped would never happen,” he said.
“Sadly, it is now a reality.” Mr Rowley said the officer who was killed in the attack was armed but, the BBC reports, police have now confirmed that the officer was unarmed.
