The University of Wisconsin Student Council have “Demanded,” that they are given complete control over the hiring and firing of cops because of alleged “Bias”. In what might be the most ridiculous case ever made, the students said that the arrest of a graffiti vandal who threatened to kill a witness is proof of the police bias.
Graffiti saying “F**K THE POLICE,” and “DEATH TO PIGZ” was sprayed all over campus by a student named Denzel McDonald. He has been arrested and charged. As to why the Student Government would consider arresting a criminal an act of “implicit bias” is unknown.
But more importantly, by what right do the students demand the control of the police? Why them? What makes them think they are so morally superior to everyone else? The University of Wisconsin has a lot to answer for.
As reported in the Daily Caller:
As evidence of “implicit bias,” the resolution prominently cites an instance in April 2016 when campus cops arrested a black student in class for a wave of graffiti.
The University of Wisconsin student government’s resolution demands that the campus police chief, Kristen Roman, “shall fully cooperate” with a newly-created accountability board which will have power over “the hiring and firing of officers that discriminate” and over “policies and trainings of implicit bias,” reports Campus Reform.
The student council resolution, entitled “UWPD Accountability and Community Control of the Police,” declares the University of Wisconsin has seen “many incidents where students of color and historically marginalized communities are treated differently by police officers.” Also “current policing practices” “demonstrate a lack of voices for communities of color” and Black Lives Matter activists have called for “community control of the police.”
