Over the weekend little Eli Thompson died at age 2.
Eli was often referred to as the “Miracle Baby” as he was born with an extremely rare medical condition known as ‘congenital arhinia.’ What that means is that Eli had no nose, nasal cavity, or olfactory system. People magazine said he was one of just 40 people in the world with this rare condition.
After Eli was born, his mother Brandi McGlaterhy shared his story with the world when she appeared on the Today show. Following that, many people became interested in Eli’s condition, and he touched many hearts.
Eli’s father, Jeremy Finch, posted on Facebook.
We lost our little buddy last night. I’ll never be able to make sense of why this happened, and this will hurt deeply for a long time. But I’m so blessed to have had this beautiful boy in my life!
He finished his race a lot earlier than we would have liked, but it was God’s time to bring him back home. I’ll forever look forward to seeing him at the gates of Heaven waiting on me to give me another one of his famous fist bumps! I love you little man. Rest in peace with my Father.
