American politics have come full circle. In the 1980s, it was Republicans who were more apt to be drawn in by prudish and small-minded calls for censorship.
30 years later, it’s the Democrats who are the kings of censorship. And they’re quick to downgrade anyone who speaks out against it.
Smug, authoritarian MSNBC host Chris Hayes tweeted on Monday that conservatives are only motivated by rage and “persecution,” and were therefore only pretending to care about free speech on campus.
Twitter users were quick to fire back.
Other liberals have disagreed as well, with a surprisingly-contrite Bill Maher admitting on HBO last week that Democrat students attempting to shut down all contrary speech and opinion is “book burning.”
