Hayden Howard, of Seymour, Indiana, noticed that her English Mastiff puppy named Jackson was covered in something strange after he was outside playing in their fenced in yard. At first she thought it was bug bites. Luckily, she decided to take him to the vet and be sure. What the vet found had her raging and speechless.
It turned out that the marks were not just bug bites. The vets found bb gun bullet holes and pellet gun bullet holes.
“There was one under his eyelid, there was one in his ear, one in his knee, they were all over underneath of him,” Howard said. “They came out there and he handed me this little cup and showed me all these little BBs and I just didn’t know what to say or what to do.”
AmericaNow has more:
Hayden says that a police officer informed her that there were likely twice as many projectiles fired at Jackson as there were found on his skin.“Twenty some pulled out of him, twenty some that wee probably still in him, and then twenty some that probably hit him and bounced off,” Howard said. “So he said there there were probably over sixty some that actually were shot at him.”Investigators say they found evidence which reveals the direction from which the shots were fired. The angle led police to the house next door to Howard’s.
According to the Daily Mail, police searched neighbor Tim Woodward’s home and found drug paraphernalia, including methamphetamine and marijuana. Woodward was arrested on drug possession charges. However, no animal cruelty charges have been filed yet.
Police are continuing the investigation and hope to make an arrest in connection with the animal cruelty case soon.
“We’ll see if some of that evidence can possibly be sent to the Indiana State Police lab for examination, and potentially do some follow up interviews and go from that point,” said Seymour Police Detective Sgt. C.J.Foster.
Howard says she is shocked that Woodward could potentially be involved in harming Jackson.
“I don’t know what to think because my neighbors have been really good to him,” Howard said. ‘Their daughter walks him. I mean, they’ve been good to him so I don’t know what to think about that.”
Despite the ongoing investigation, Howard is glad to report that Jackson is recovering and doing well.
