Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump each wanted Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s endorsement in the 2016 Presidential election, but acting and sports-entertainment star wouldn’t give it to either candidate, according to The Daily Caller.
In an interview with GQ, Johnson said that both campaigns reached out to him – but he politely refused each time.
The former WWE wrestler had a pretty darned respectable reason, too.
I feel like I’m in a position now where my word carries a lot of weight and influence, which is of course why they want the endorsement,” Johnson told the interviewer.
“I feel like it would make (a large group of) people unhappy with the thought of whatever my political view was. And it also might sway an opinion, which I didn’t want to do,” he added humbly.
The Rock has also not ruled out “cookin” up a future Presidential run of his own.
