According to fedbizopps.com, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) along with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have put out a bid for contractors to build the famously promised wall along the border – despite push back from the left.
Trump spoke at CPAC, saying that the wall building is actually ahead of schedule. “We’re building the wall… In fact it’s going to start very soon. Way ahead of schedule. It’s way, way, way ahead of schedule,” said the President.
News.com.au reports, “The agency said on a website for federal contactors that a request for bids would be published on or around March 6. Companies would have to submit “concept papers” to design and build prototypes by March 10. CBP will narrow the field by March 20 and require that finalists renew their offers by March 24, with a price attached.”
The Gateway Pundit has more:
President Trump’s promise to build a “great wall” on the border between the United States and Mexico is happening – whether liberals like it or not.
The Department of Homeland Security is kicking off bid solicitations, according to FedBizOpps.gov:
The Dept. of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intends on issuing a solicitation in electronic format on or about March 6, 2017 for the design and build of several prototype wall structures in the vicinity of the United States border with Mexico. The procurement will be conducted in two phases, the first requiring vendors to submit a concept paper of their prototype(s) by March 10, 2017, which will result in the evaluation and down select of offerors by March 20, 2017. The second phase will require the down select of phase 1 offerors to submit proposals in response to the full RFP by March 24, 2017, which will include price. Multiple awards are contemplated by mid-April for this effort. An option for additional miles may be included in each contract award.
Speaking at CPAC, President Trump told an CPAC crowd that planning of the wall was a head of schedule.
As per news.au.com:
Trump has vowed to start building a wall on the Mexican border “soon, way ahead of schedule”.
Mr Trump told the nation’s largest gathering of conservative activists, the Conservative Political Action Congress, in Washington, that he vowed to always put American citizens first and build a “great, great border wall”.
“We’re building the wall,” he said.
“In fact it’s going to start very soon. Way ahead of schedule. It’s way, way, way ahead of schedule.”
Alarmed that the President is following through on his promise, the Mexican government is threatening a “trade war” with the United States.
SKY News reports:
Mexico’s foreign minister Luis Videgaray said his country would respond to any tax levied by the US and that they did not actually need financial help.
He warned Mexico could impose levies on select goods aimed at US regions most reliant on exports south of the border, such as Iowa, Texas and Wisconsin.
Speaking during a radio interview, Mr Videgaray said: “Without a doubt, we have that possibility and what we cannot do is remain with our arms crossed.
“The Mexican government would have to respond.”
