Constitutional law professor Elizabeth Price Foley was interviewed on MSNBC this weekend, with the “news” team clearly hoping to hear that President Trump is guilty…of something.
Instead, the Harvard-educated Foley explained to dismayed Trump-hater Yasmin Vossoughian that the Democrats’ “obstruction of justice” charge is pure bunk.
As President, Trump has the authority to call an end to investigations, suggest changes in investigations, and otherwise direct executive-level investigations, Foley explained. It’s in the Constitution.
“If the American people are unhappy with the way Trump acted,” Foley then stated, they can vote him out in 2020 or their Representatives can impeach him – but there are a “million different layers” why the President’s authority to pardon suspects, lead or call-off investigations or fire people is completely lawful.
