After the shocking shooting at the Congressional baseball game, President Trump and First Lady Melania wasted no time in heading out the door. Pundits on mainstream news channels were pondering what the President was doing. It turns out his first priority was to visit House majority whip, Steve Scalise, and his family at the hospital.
Trump is becoming famous for his unscheduled stop-offs and visits. Whether it’s dropping into the VA hospital, taking the time to chat with members of the Military, or even gate crashing a wedding to wish the happy couple luck.
And it may annoy his security detail, but it shows that Donald Trump is what he always has been…A people person; someone who cares about the welfare of others and does not mind giving his time to make sure everyone is ok.
As reported in the Daily Caller:
Donald and Melania Trump made an unannounced visit to the Washington hospital where Rep. Steve Scalise is being treated Wednesday night after he was gunned down during a congressional baseball practice earlier that day.
According to the pool report, the president and first lady were spotted with bouquets of flowers at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center. They stayed for about half an hour, and Trump spoke with Capitol Police officers while he was there.
The hospital said in an update Wednesday night that the House majority whip remains in critical condition. He was shot in the left hip, the hospital said, and the bullet “traveled across his pelvis, fracturing bones, injuring internal organs and causing severe bleeding.”
