A Fox News poll released on Wednesday of Americans who are registered to vote gathered just -3 percentage points of 1000+ opinions of the President’s likability and job performance, giving Trump another slight increase in approval rating with a 45%-approve, 48%-disapprove margin.
Other reputable, independent polls of registered or likely voters give Trump a boost as well, with approval numbers nearing 50%.
The mainstream media will no doubt compare those results to other polls of all Americans, which still show about 10% more citizens (and undocumented persons?) disapproving of the POTUS.
However, that “debunking” overlooks one very important fact.
There are indeed Americans who voted for Donald Trump believing that he would be excellent “medicine” for the evils of Washington, but without approving of him personally. Even if only 5% or 10% of Trump voters supported him in the 2016 election despite disliking him as a man, flipping that sizable group would put Trump firmly in the black in many “approval” polls.
Approval polls for other recent nominees for POTUS, both houses of Congress, and the government as a whole, are in the absolute toilet with some ratings in the teens.
