President Donald Trump is not a traditional conservative. But there are times when his policy-making is very conservative indeed, so much so that he lands to the right of any establishment Republican.
Trump announced early today that the United States of America will be leaving the Paris Climate Agreement, effective as soon as possible.
“I was elected to represent the people of Pittsburgh, not Paris,” Trump said from the Rose Garden at the White House.
Like most of Trump’s moves, there are several dimensions to the decision. The Paris Accord was Obama’s pet project and globalist claim-to-fame, which the new President has now brushed aside. Trump live-streamed the announcement with a tweet:
Also by referencing “Pittsburgh,” a city full of Democrats and minorities, Trump is defeating a criticism he took during the campaign – that he was only interested in helping those who voted for him.
