One of Manhattan’s famed Upper East Side private schools, The Dalton School, has decided to cancel this year’s ice-skating party in response to a group of parents protesting the fact that the rink they use was the Trump-Wollman Rink in Central Park.
The official reason for cancelling “Dalton on Ice”, according to the Daily Caller, was given by the Dalton’s Parents Association as:
“Dalton on Ice” event would not happen this year. “Dalton on Ice” “would not be financially prudent” due to “significantly lower attendance,”
The lower attendance no doubt caused by the parents protesting President Trump’s association with the rink when he helped refurbish it in 1986. Parents wished to make a protest against his election.
Other parents at The Dalton School are understandably angry. Quotes from some of these parents include:
“Liberal moms” are responsible for the cancellation”
“I think it is completely insane,” “Like him or not, it feels like a strange place for New Yorkers to protest. And sad that kids now have no skating party.”
Whilst some may argue that the protests against Donald Trump are spread evenly across all social strata, it is worth noting a few facts about The Dalton School:
One year’s tuition for years K-12 is $44,640. This fee includes the cost of lunch which last Friday consisted of sustainable green tea, salmon, anasazi bean salad, fresh organic papaya yogurt and a pasta bar with both marinara sauce and puttanesca sauce.
