A man who tried to steal a Jeep was stopped when the owner of the vehicle pointed a gun at him. The incident, which took place in Florida, was just one episode in a long string of offences committed by one suspect last Friday.
A homeowner was surprised to find the suspect, identified as Cody Dwayne Hynum, sitting in his vehicle in an attempt to steal it. The owner detained him at gunpoint and alerted the local law enforcement. Hynam was arrested and confined to a police car while they were investigating the crime scene. While unsupervised, he kicked out the rear driver’s side window and climbed into the drivers seat. He then used the patrol car to escape, driving with his knees and chin. Unsurprisingly, he crashed the vehicle. He then ran into the woods where police tased and arrested him.
The suspect had started the day by allegedly setting a stolen vehicle on fire, the Daily Caller reports:
The drama began Friday morning when Walton County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 10. The vehicle was reported stolen in DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and was found to be purposely set on fire. Shortly after this discovery, the same person responsible for setting the vehicle on fire was found attempting to steal a Jeep.
Hynam has been charged with nine felony offences.
