Braulio Guerra, a Mexican lawmaker, posted a video on Thursday of himself sitting on top of the border fence between the United States and Mexico to demonstrate how easy it was for someone to climb. The lawmaker argued that spending billions to build the wall makes no economic sense. As the Camera rolled, Guerra says in Spanish “It’s completely unnecessary — and it’s absurd — to build a wall that costs $15 billion. Look, in these 8 meters, more or less 8, 10 meters, how simple it is to climb”. Although climbing the wall is quite easy, he says that there were many dangers for the people of Mexico, and that Human rights, principles, and dignity were not negotiable.
The Hot Air reports:
There are a few ways to look at this. On one hand, this is obviously a stunt. Guerra is playing to an audience beyond Mexico with this video, though it would probably have been more effective if he had actually climbed the barrier on camera rather than talking about how easy it was. Maybe it wasn’t quite as easy as he claimed.
