An Ohio family of three is accused of collecting (and spending) the Social Security checks of a Vietnam Veteran. Authorities found his dead body decomposing in their home, says an Ohio sheriff.
Deputies found the man’s body in the home where he was living with a family that included a couple and their teenage daughter. It’s believed that he’d been dead for several month. But, in order to keep cashing his benefit checks, they just lived with the corpse as long as they could.
The body of 71-year-old man was discovered Tuesday by Tuscarawas County sheriff’s deputies. Someone had reported to police that the family said the elderly man still lived there. However, no one had seen him lately.
Deputies say they found the man’s body Tuesday and they have video footage of one of the residents making withdrawals using his Social Security benefits card.
Authorities have charged Brian Sorohan and Stacy Sorohan with abuse of a corpse and theft of a credit card. Their 18-year-old daughter was charged with abuse of a corpse.
There are no court records indicating whether they have an attorney to speak for them or home telephone listings so they can be contacted.
