What many have suspected for years is now finally proven…The ACLU hates cops. After mounting incidents of attacks against police officers around the country, 13 States have now introduced legislation to better protect police officers. The ACLU Legislative Counsel, Kanya Bennett, has decried this, saying that cops are already the “most protected class under the law”.
The fact that cops are targeted by almost every criminal they try and arrest seems to have escaped the ACLU’s notice. They have conveniently forgotten that if a criminal can beat or shoot a cop to get away from being arrested, he (or she) will do so.
The ACLU is also arguing against legislation that would see minimum sentencing against those that assault cops while they are carrying out their duty. This madness from the ACLU is race-driven and dangerous and will result in criminals thinking they deserve to take a shot at cops. Don’t back the ACLU; they are fast becoming just another hate group.
As reported in the Daily Caller:
With Kentucky becoming the 13th state to adopt “Blue Lives Matter” legislation Wednesday, the ACLU is doubling down on opposing the police protections on both the federal and state levels, a spokeswoman told The Daily Caller News Foundation Friday.
The Kentucky law makes attacking police a hate crime, and the new Back the Blue Act introduced by Texas Republicans Sen. John Cornyn and Rep. Ted Poe would introduce mandatory minimum sentences for crimes against police and introduce the death penalty for killing law enforcement officers.
“Law enforcement are already the most protected class under law,” said ACLU Legislative Counsel Kanya Bennett. “There is no need to further criminalize actions against them or increase cops’ legal protection.”
Bennett argued the introduction of mandatory minimums for crimes against police officers would contradict years of bipartisan soft-sentencing reform and only deteriorate community-police relations.
