A 33-year-old nurse is expected to be buried Friday. She was murdered in her own apartment. Nashville cops are still searching for her killer.
Police released surveillance video showing the man they believe to be the man who murdered Tiffany Ferguson. Authorities say he broke into her unlocked apartment, stabbed her to death, and fled the scene.
On early Tuesday morning, Ferguson was found by her roommate. The murder victim was bleeding heavily from multiple stab wounds, says authorities. She was pronounced dead after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The suspected perpetrator was captured on video. He was wearing ripped jeans and a dark hoodie. On the video, he appears to be walking around the community, checking cars to see if they’re unlocked.
According to NY Daily News:
The alleged nurse killer is believed to have entered the apartment through an unlocked door and started rummaging for valuables. It remains unclear whether the alleged stabber made off with any valuables.
Authorities believe around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday the suspect stabbed Ferguson, whose screams reportedly woke up roommate Kelsey Cooper.
Ferguson, who worked at a nearby hospital, leaves behind her parents and her twin sister, Ali. Her mourning sister told NBC News, “to know her was to love her.”
Cooper described her roommate fondly to local NBC affiliate WSMV. She added that later Tuesday they were expected to renew the lease on their apartment for another year.
When asked if she thought Ferguson was naive about her safety, an emotional Cooper said, “yeah.”
“I mean Tiffany probably didn’t think that anybody in this world had bad intentions,” Cooper said. “I don’t think she thinks that anybody could do bad things. I think she thinks that everybody loved the way she loved. And that’s not always the case. ”
Police believe the act was random.
