The Washington DC rumor mill has been in overdrive lately regarding a major shakeup of White House staff.
It has become the accepted wisdom that President Trump, disappointed at the reception of his first five months in office will replace some of the original staff.
Some see today’s announcement that Mike Dubke is stepping down as White House communications director as the start of that shakeup, while others are not so sure.
The Washington Post sees the move “as the first of what could be a series of changes to President Trump’s senior staff amid the growing Russia scandal.
At the same time, most people would be hard-pressed to identify who Mike Dubke is and what he did in the administration, and his leaving may be nothing more than having received a better offer somewhere else.
The ‘conventional’ wisdom of the press is that Trump is unhappy with staff performance, but Trump has proven to be anything but ‘conventional’ since he appeared on the nation political stage just a year ago.
