After telling resident NBC Clintonian Chuck Todd that the Trump-Russia legal quagmire is “an investigation about itself,” anti-Trump columnist David Brooks has made an extraordinary statement in print.
Incredibly, it has been published in the New York Times.
Brooks says that the Democrats are badly overreaching in their effort to get Trump impeached with the aid of the Russia conspiracy theory.
“As the Trump-Russia story has evolved, it is striking how little evidence there is that any underlying crime occurred,” wrote Brooks in the NYT.
Brooks is also skeptical that anything significant will come of the Democrats’ obsession with Trump campaigners and Russians meeting during 2016.
“Nothing we know of these meetings proves or even indicates collusion.”
