A new poll found that a large majority of Americans who voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 election approve of his performance so far as president.
The survey, conducted by the University of Virginia, revealed that 93 percent of respondents who voted for Trump approve of the job he’s been doing so far, while only 7 percent disapprove.
Within the 93 percent who approve, 42 percent strongly approve and 51 percent somewhat approve. Only 1 percent strongly disapprove of his actions up to this point in time.
The Daily Caller reports:
Trump voters were less understanding of Congress. Only 81 percent of respondents approve of the job that Republicans in Congress are doing. Seventeen percent of Trump voters approved of the job Democratic representatives did since Trump was elected.
A significant portion of Trump voters remained undecided on congressional races. Only 78 percent of Trump voters reported they planned to vote for a Republican candidate in their congressional district in the 2018 midterm elections. Respondents weren’t completely ready to make the switch to the Democratic Party, however. Nineteen percent of Trump voters asserted they were undecided in which party they planned to support in 2018.
While Trump is polling well among his voters, his approval rating among the overall population remains low, with 40 percent of registered voters giving him their approval.
