Residents of Ferguson, Missouri, a mostly-black community near St. Louis that has had its share of racial controversy, recently re-elected James Knowles III as their town mayor.
NBC News is not happy about it.
Knowles, who happens to be white, won with a 56% to 44% majority. A headline on NBC News states, “Ferguson Declines To Elect First Black Mayor,” and continues by saying residents are distraught and “hardened” by the result of the election. But the story quotes no such actual citizens of Ferguson.
Knowles III won against City Council member Ella Jones, a black woman.
As Derek Hunter of The Daily Caller puts it, “Voters in Ferguson aren’t as interested in the skin color of their leaders as the media is.”
