House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi implied during a Wednesday press conference that President Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump has been “complicit” in her father’s actions, and is actively working against the American people.
Pelosi’s was asked about comments Ivanka made during an interview on “CBS This Morning.” CBS host Gayle King asked her to address those who say she is “complicit” in her father’s White House.
The word – and the narrative – is absurdly drawn from a Saturday Night Live sketch in which an Ivanka impersonator (Scarlett Johansson) marketed a brand of perfume called Complicit.
Ivanka replied, “I don’t know what it means to be complicit” before continuing that the reporter should not “conflate lack of public denouncement with silence” when it comes to issues like women’s rights.
“What do you make of these comments?” an-off camera reporter asked Pelosi at the presser. Pelosi’s answer directly contradicted even the worst of high school vocabulary teachers.
“I think everybody knows what the word complicit is, and what it means is you’re not acting in the interest of the American people,” Pelosi responded.
