On Monday, the Justice Department filed charges against a 25 year-old woman accused of stealing classified information from American intelligence officials and leaking it to The Intercept.
Reality Leigh Winner is the culprit, filed in U.S. District Court in Georgia as “removing classified material from a government facility and mailing it to a news outlet,” the Justice Department reported.
Winner, a Bernie Sanders activist who lives in Georgia, has worked for Pluribus International since February 13th according to the document.
On May 9th “Winner printed and improperly removed classified intelligence reporting, which contained classified national defense information from an intelligence community agency, and unlawfully retained it,” reads the complaint.
The intelligence itself – that Russian hackers not connected to the Russian central state had tried and failed to hack voting machines in Florida to reflect a different tally – was heralded by liberal media as a bombshell.
But in reality, the news is a dud, underscoring that any Russian efforts to undermine the 2016 ultimately failed, and have already been known to the FBI, whose leakers would have been first to trumpet any suggested Trump-campaign collusion in the attempt.
