New York authorities say a man was arguing with his wife. At some point, he threw gas on her, and set her on fire, killing the woman.
Schenectady police and fire crews responded to a fire at the home of Antonio Bargallo and Elizabeth Gonzales Saturday morning. A neighbor had been awoken by the screams of the burning woman, who used a blanket to put the flames out on Gonzales’ burning clothes.
When questioned, 48-year-old Gonzales told the police that her husband had thrown gas on her, and put fire to her. The badly burned woman was airlifted to a local hospital. She died there on Sunday morning.
The 69-year-old husband has been charged with multiple charges, including attempted murder. Now that his wife has died from her injuries, he’ll more than likely be facing second degree murder charges.
According to a NY Daily News report:
The current charges against the 69-year-old Bargallo include attempted murder.
Police say the charge likely will be upgraded to second-degree murder.
He’s being held in the county jail without bail.
It couldn’t immediately be determined whether he has a lawyer.
