A couple from Grand Island, New York, has been arrested and charged after violently attacking a police officer… together.
Deputy Jason Clark was making his rounds when he stopped on a road to investigate a suspicious car. That’s when Sammy Abdellatif, the 22-year-old passenger in the car, began yelling obscenities and making threats at the officer.
Clark was on his was to arrest the man, when suddenly his wife, 21-year-old Brittany Ashley-Graser got out of the car and began to defend her husband.. violently.
Clark says Abdellatif placed him in a chokehold, causing him to nearly lose consciousness. Peter O’Brien, who was passing by, reportedly attempted to intervene but was attacked by a pit bull that was in the couple’s car.
“Were it not for the actions of Mr. O’Brien, this very easily could have ended with another dead police officer,” Erie County District Attorney Michael Flaherty said.
“The case will be presented to an Erie County grand jury very soon, in the coming weeks. That grand jury will be able to listen to the evidence and render a decision as to whether there’s sufficient evidence to charge him with that crime and additional crimes.”
Abdellatif was charged with attempted murder, and Ashley-Graser was charged with felony assault, obstruction of governmental administration and resisting arrest.
“A big pat on the back for Peter O’Brien for assisting this officer. hopefully the other two will get substantial jail time,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page. “Too bad Barack Obama can’t be arrested for a conspirator in crimes like this. His lax attitude with groups such as black lives matter is a reason behind a lot of this disrespect towards law enforcement.”
