In response to a petition to the British Parliament to deny President Trump a state visit later this year, a protest was organized for outside the Houses of Parliament. In what was a well funded operation with big screen TVs, sound systems and professionally printed signs, the media went crazy reveling in the public’s response to Donald Trump. There was only one problem, hardly anyone turned up.
Both CNN and The Hill made reports of “About 300,000 protestors had gathered in Parliament Square”. But this was not the case. Even the most generous estimates put the actual number of people at around 2000 souls. According to Will Heaven, writing in the Spectator, who was actually there, he estimates a few hundred or so.
So why did these supposed Paragons of Media Integrity, decide to send out Tweets stating 300,000? Could it be because they have an agenda to push? Or that their reporting practices no longer matter in the “Land of Fake News”?
By a factor of more than 100, the numbers were enlarged. There is clearly no taste for anti-Trump protests in the UK, yet the British MSM are as guilty of scaremongering as the US. CNN are right about Fake News being a problem, so why do they keep making it?
