Common sense is widely lacking in today’s world, especially after what happened to veterans in a popular restaurant. At Dave & Buster’s Michigan, American Legion officers were told to remove their jackets because they showed evidence of gang affiliation. It is so sad that the American flag is now being equated to crime.
The two veterans, Victor Murdock and Adrienne Brown of the American Legion Riders Post 179, were stopping by to have a bite to eat but were ordered to remove vests they had worn before they could get in because the company “prohibits evidence of gang”. April Spearman, the company’s spokesperson stated that the policy was in place “to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy themselves in a fun and safe environment”
The Freedom Daily reports:
“Though we understand that the American Legion promotes a positive mission, for consistency reasons we cannot allow motorcycle jackets displaying patches or rockers,” she said.
Murdock said he doesn’t see how the policy would apply to American Legion affiliates.
“I get it,” he said. “Everyone has to have a policy to keep the unwanted element out. But an American flag and a bald eagle does not represent a gang element.”
Spearman apologized for the frustration on behalf of the company.
“We are extremely grateful to all of our active military members and veterans and are honored to have them as valued guests in any of our locations,” she wrote. “Our policies are in no way meant to be disrespectful and we apologize for any frustration this may have caused.”
How dare these people say this to our veterans.
Well, if that is how they want to conduct their business that means they have lost mine. When a company can’t determine the difference between the American flag and a gang there are big issues. Veterans have every right to display the flag on their jackets and if they cannot see that well then, good riddance.
Please join me in boycotting this restaurant until they reevaluate their senseless “policy”
