A Florida McDonald’s employee rushed to the aid of a customer in distress. Pedro Viloria dove through the fast food restaurant’s drive-thru window to help save the customer’s life.
The 22-year-old hero was working at the Doral McDonald’s drive-thru window. Everything seemed fine at first. He says the female customer placed her order, paid and was handed her food.
It was then that Viloria noticed that the lady looked like she was having a hard time breathing. She pulled away from the window, with two kids sitting in the backseat of the car.
As she slowly pulled off, she crashed the car. It went into the median. She was having a serious medical emergency. The woman turned out to be an off-duty Miami-Dade police officer, Pedro Viloria told WPLG.
Viloria said he heard the kids screaming and immediately sprang into action.
Surveillance footage at the restaurant showed the fast-food worker jump through the drive-thru window and rush towards the car.
“I thought if those kids lose their mother today that’s gonna be tragic,” he told WSVN. “It is what a hero does. If I would have need to die to save that woman I would have done it.”
After realizing the woman was unconscious, Viloria ran back into the restaurant to get help.
Two customers, one a paramedic and the other a fire rescue worker, went over to assist the woman.
Viloria said the first responders performed CPR on the woman and used an automated external defibrillator machine to revive her.
The name of the off-duty officer was not released, and there’s no word on her current condition.
