A massive explosion went off at a carnival in Paris, France, when a 20-foot effigy known as “Mr. Carnival” was set on fire before it exploded.
The incident injured at least 20 people, but luckily no one was killed. The victims suffered a host of explosion related injuries.
“Many are injured in the face, and all are in hospital,” said Nathalie Crespin, spokeswoman for the Paris fire brigade, as reported by Ireland’s Independent. She added that five of the injured were “in a very bad way.”
Paris police do not suspect terrorism or arson at this time. So far they are calling it an accident, although someone did set the effigy alight – as witnesses saw them being thrown backwards by the explosion.
